Ingredients:
- 1 pound broccoli, rinsed and trimmed
- 4 potatoes
- 2 smoked sausages
- 1 cup finely shredded Gruyère
- 4 eggs
- 2 tbs fraîche crème
- 2 tsp Dijon mustard
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp freshly ground black pepper
Directions:
- Heat oven to 375° F.
- Fill a large saucepan with 1 inch of water and fit with a steamer basket (or fill a large pot with ½ inch of water). Bring to a simmer. Place the broccoli in the steamer basket, cover, and steam until just tender, 3 to 4 minutes; transfer to a large bowl.
- Peel potatoes and cut into edges.
- Place the potatoes in the steamer basket, cover, and steam until just tender,10 -13 minutes; transfer to a large bowl.
- Score the sausage and cut into 2 inch pieces.
- Arrange the broccoli, potatoes and sausage into a baking dish.
- In a bowl whisk the eggs, fraîche crème and Dijon mustard.
- Season the egg mixture with salt, pepper and whisk well.
- Coat broccoli with the egg mixture before sprinkling with the remaining cheese.
- Bake for about 25-30 minutes until golden and the center of the gratin has set or the knife inserted comes out clean.
